One bite at a time!
One bite at a time!
a Castro hottie

A few weeks ago after a “happy” hour in the Castro with a friend, I decided to walk in Zadin and order food to go, too lazy to cook that night. I had ordered the green curry scallops.
The scallop were perfectly cooked, tender and nicely colored, served on top of spinach noodles. I was really impressed, how can a to go dish taste so good???
So I decided tonight to go back there and re-try the experience but this time I will seat down at a table. I came with a friend around 8 pm. We were immediately seated. We ordered the Imperial rolls, the now famous Green curry scallops and the Lemongrass pork.
The rolls were golden and crispy, served with fresh salad, mint and cilantro. The scallops PERFECT! It sounds bizarre but most place I have been to always over cook scallops. Biting into Zadin’s scallops was like eating butter. The combination with the spinach noodles and the green curry sauce was great. This is a great dish.
The pork was good, served with a cucumber salad. Very fresh.
I like that their menu is short but still you will find something to satisfy every craving, vegetarian dishes too!
Zadin is not a traditional Vietnamese restaurant and they don’t pretend to be. But the influence are really clear and if you are looking for something different then this is the place. I can’t wait to go back to try their noodles!
Summary: This a great neighborhood gem, that I will recommend. The food is good and fresh. Bill for 2: $55 (tip not included, a beer and 2 glasses of wine included) I tipped the kitchen that night. Thanks for those perfect scallops!
