One bite at a time!
Cheap lunch

Today I went to grab a very quick bite with a friend of mine, because we were both close to the Castro he suggested Bandy Ho’s on 18th St. I had never been there so I agreed, I wanted to know what the fuss was all about. I have walked by this place about a million times. It looks really nice, modern and inviting, I am in!
We both went for the lunch special $7.95. Yes a great value!!
First I was served a combination of appetizers: Sweet and sour soup, cold noodle salad and what they called dim sum, a bubble of dough fried and sprinkled with soy sauce. I have to say everything was pretty mediocre. The cold noodle salad, was gooey noodle topped with cut cucumbers and a thick peanut sauce that didn’t do it for me. The soup was just ok. Then I ordered a Gon-Pou chicken, it was served with some rice. Again the dish was very mediocre. I mean the food was eatable, and for the price I am not going to complain too much but seriously, this is not to me Chinese cuisine. It looked very good on their fancy plate in this hip joint but the fact is the food is not so good.
Summary: I don’t want to complain too much because the price was very low $7.95 for 2 dish. But I will not go back nor recommend it to anyone. If you want Chinese cuisine, San Francisco is the place for it, Brandy Ho’s is not! Service was good.
