Tomales deli
Friday, December 12, 2008
In the small city of Tomales, only two blocks, you will find this great Deli.
The Tomales deli + cafe, is open daily from 7 to 7. The service is good and the sandwich are great. Today, I went for my favorite: the chicken breast with artichoke pesto.
They grilled the breast to order and it was nice and juicy when served, the pesto can be messy to eat but I don’t mind that. The ingredients are fresh, the bread, almost like a focaccia was nicely grilled. With a bag of chips it was perfect.
As you sit down at the table you will notice how many people stop through Tomales to get a sandwich here: Construction workers, cyclist, locals, and herds of bikers cruising up and down the coast.
The person with me ordered a veggie burger and was really satisfied with it.
Summary: I highly recommend this little place if you are driving by, or if you want to take a day trip out of the city. Tomales is 1 hour and 15 minutes north of San Francisco and a beautiful little town. Maybe this sandwich can be the starter to a oyster feast that you will find along the coast! Bill for 2: $18.45 (including 2 sandwiches and 2 bags of chips)
Note: They do have an issue with flies that they are taking care of, don’t let it turn you down, remember this is the country side, you have cows running all around the hills.
