One Bite at a time!
One Bite at a time!
Pagolac

Last night I went for a late dinner with the BF. We had a party to go to and then pushed by our hungry stomachs, we walked down to Pagolac in little saigon.
We arrived around 9:45 and felt lucky that we got sat down. We were the last table to be seated and it’s seemed that everyone was almost done eating.
We were so cold that I immediately ordered the hot and sour soup and a spring roll. The soup was good, filled with flavors of fresh cilantro. The broth was spicy enough to kick the coldness out of our bodies. A nice start!
Then we had our order of fried spring rolls. Served with fresh lettuce, cilantro and mint. They were nice and crispy, love it!!
Then, we ordered the #5, yeah don’t ask me to pronounce or remember the name of the dish, sorry my bad! But anyway, they bring some fresh lettuce, soy sprouts, carrots and daikon julienned, cilantro, mint, a plate of raw thin slices of beef, calamari and shrimp, some rice paper and a bowl of hot water and a cast iron grill to your table. Basically you just have to grill your own meat or fish and make your own roll. It might sound a bit overwhelming but trust me this is so good. And the best thing is, if your meat is over cooked you know who too blame!
I highly recommend this, it’s entertaining, really good, the ingredients are so fresh.
The place is usually packed and it’s usually hard to get a table around the rush hour, but if you get there later you will have no problem. I have to say that we were the last table seated and the service suffer a bit because of that, some of the staff already had left and the restaurant was closing when we ate our last roll. We left around 10:30 pm.
I like this place, I have been many times and it’s consistently good. It’s a fun place to go, if you are on a date of even with a group of friends. This is my favorite spot for out-of-towners.
Please don’t go there with your favorite cashmere, you will get out smelling like you’ve been working in a kitchen all night. But this is not a turn off for me, but part of the experience, so put on your old sweater that you can throw in the wash when you get home and enjoy!!
Summary: This is one of my favorite little spot in town. I go to Pagolac quite often and love the food. I would highly recommend this place. Bill for 2: $33.10
Note: I enjoy making my own rolls and it inspired me to take this idea home. At home I have now created all sorts of spring rolls. I love preparing a plate of fresh produce, julienned, like cabbage, mango, cucumbers, some cooked shrimp, or lime marinated chicken and I let my guests do there own roll it’s a fantastic dinner! Healthy and fresh.
