Indian dinner
Monday, December 1, 2008
A friend of mine is visiting from out of town and last night, like deers in the headlights, we got stuck not knowing what to do for dinner. So we strolled down the street and went to the Indian Oven for dinner.
The four of us got seated right away. The place wasn’t crowded but you can tell that the people seated are like us- neighbors.
We ordered a couple samosas and they came to the table right away. I am loving their cilantro/mint cream sauce usually just called the “green” sauce. You know what I am talking about. It’s nice and spicy. I drowned my samosas in it, it was so good.
Then we ordered the Tandoori assorted. The lamb was nice and pink, the chicken moist. Really well executed!
Then we shared the chicken tikka masala, chicken korma and lamb vindaloo, with rice and few naan (cheese, goat cheese, onion). Everything was good, so good that we had to order more naans just to soak up the rest of the sauces.
At the end of dinner our bellies nice and round and the table looked like a starving tornado had clean up all the dishes, leaving just a couple grain of rice on the table here and there.
It’s not the first time that I have been to the Indian Oven and certainly no the last. This is not a place for fancy dinning and pompous stars, this is a place for people who are hungry for good Indian food! Kid Friendly and quite a few vegetarian dishes.
Summary: I highly recommend the Indian Oven if you are in the neighborhood. Don’t cross the country for it but if you happen to be a few blocks away, you won’t be disappointed!
Bill for 4: $122.02 (tip not included, 5 beers included and 6 naans!) This was a lot of food!
