I found this place with the BF a bit by accident, we were strolling down clement street looking for a place that would sale live crab and this is what we found.
Going into this market it’s like going on a trip. You will see things that you usually don’t see anywhere else. The produces are fresh. Of course it is an Asian market and you will find mostly Asian products but they also carry the salads and carrots and basic ingredients.
The seafood is fresh and alive! I was like a kid in a candy store in there. Actually they inspired us two dinners, our crab feast on Christmas eve and it was so good that the next day I came back and picked up 2 maine lobsters for our Christmas dinner! By the way, the lobster was $9.90 a pound, what else can I ask for?
Strolling down the alley of this place, I realize how I would like to speak chinese, to understand all those brightly colored and packed ingredients. By the seafood, I found a box with live frogs, I wasn’t shocked, come one I am French! But I have to admit it is unusual. You won’t find that at Whole food!!
I check out the meat department, trips, pigs feet, whole chicken with still head and feet on, chicken's feet, etc.. this is my kind of store. I feel silly that I have been living in San Francisco for 11 years and this is my first time here.
Yes the service is a bit rude, and yes it doesn’t help that I don’t speak chinese, but that’s now on my to do list because I want to explore this place even more. I will not shop there for basic produces but I will certainly be back for the live seafood and the extraordinary selection of meat, and other asian products.
