Dinner at a friend's house
Saturday, December 27, 2008
There is nothing better than having my best friend invite me over for dinner on one of my “I don’t want to cook” night. The BF is at work, I don’t feel like going out and here, saved by the bell, my friend tells me that he has made a big pot of beans, that I should come over have dinner with them and watch a movie. This sound like a good plan!
When I first met this couple a few years ago, I immediately saw in there kitchen the “Carte Gastronimique de France”, a huge map of France labeling each gastronomic specialty of each village, city and regions. I knew then that we would have a lot in common.
To be invited to their house for dinner is such a treat, they are both excellent cook and over the years sharing a kitchen and our recipes as brought us even closer.
Tonight, it was a simple but very tasteful plate of beans cooked with bacon and rice, with pork and salad aside.
This is comfort food at it’s best, a couple drizzle of tabasco and some fresh tomato and parsley as a garnish. I was in heaven.
Again, here is a reminder that simple food sometimes can be the best meals. And sharing it with friends makes it even more special.
