Chef Carles Abellan’s invitation made the experience at Comerç24 even more special. We entered this modern looking restaurant, the staffed was so professional and so attentive. The bright yellow tiles of the kitchen got my attention right away, you can see into the kitchen through a thick glass. It’s like a kitchen aquarium! I am ready to eat.
First you are seated and introduced to your waiter and the sommelier. They both help you with pick the best menu and wine. Then you are offered some amazing bread to deep in few different olive oils, going from the lightest to the grassiest, some amuse bouche, more like little things to nibble on. I am totally teased, my palate is wide awake as are all my other senses.
Our menu:
Amuse bouche - fried pork skin (I know it’s sounds weird but I understood then why pork skin were invented! Olives, nuts in gold leaf dust, bread ticks in basil sauce
Mackerels marinated - served with a gastric and micro herbs. It was fresh, intense and the fish rawness left in my mouth the most pleasant taste, like if I had been kissed by the sea.
Ou Kinder - Calaf egg soft boiled, the yolk and white are separated and the yolk mixed with minced pieces of white and black truffle is put back on the bottom of the egg shell and topped with a silky smooth foam of potatoes and truffle. This was so amazing, the different textures in our mouth left us speechless for a while. I am in a middle of a foodgasm!! If my boyfriend would have not been there I would have proposed to Chef Carles. This was the best egg dish I had ever had.
Raviolis sipia - the ravioli made with the thin slice of cuttle fish filled with a perfectly cooked morel. Biting into it was like a explosion of morels in my mouth. This was an very thoughtful dish, again the play with the different textures was mind blowing.
Yakisoba Navalles - razor clams with cockles garnish and Yakisoba. The cockles were so fresh that eating them felt like eating them under the sea. It was like taking a mouthful of sea water, in a good way though.
Cheese assortment
Carles Abellan was given a star by the Michelin guide. I am surprised that he didn’t get a second one!!
Summary: The service was outstanding, the food was out of this world. What else can I say? Buy a ticket to Barcelona, now!!!
Bill for 2: 123.05 Euros (including tip and 20 Euros bottle of wine)
Note: Spain has the most amazing wine and it would really surprise me if in a restaurant you spend more than 30 Euros on a bottle of wine. In any restaurant, you can find very reasonably priced bottles. Don’t compare to america. In a spanish store you can find decent table wine for 2 Euros, around 15 Euro you get get a very nice bottle. No its true! I promise! I know I have been wondering myself why I don’t live there?
