What happen when you wake up with a craving for Chinese food?
The BF and I found Five Happiness in the outer Richmond. This traditional Chinese restaurant was very friendly. The waitress was very accommodating.
The BF craved for Peking duck but I saw on the menu that we had to order it 24 hours in advance. We still asked our waitress and she said about 40 minutes.
A smile on our face we ordered it and tried to fill the time gap with a few appetizers.
We started with the Beef Wonton soup. The broth was rich and very flavor full. This is to me like the top comfort food, the kind of thing that warms up your stomach.
Then we had the onion cake and the pot stickers.
Those were equally good.
Finally the waitress brought us the whole duck beautifully cooked and took it back instantly to the kitchen to have the chef take it apart for us.
Served with the traditional scallion julienne, plum sauce and those thin crepes alike. It was good!
it wasn’t the best I have ever had but considering the last minute notice and all, I was very pleased with it.
Summary: I think what I like the best about this place is that when the bill came. $45.85 for the both of us, plus all the leftover we took home. This is really worth it if you have a Chinese food craving. I will be back to Five Happiness and want to try other stuff. They did have live crab!
Note: I would like to thank the staff Of Five Happiness that gave us the bones from our duck. When I came home I made a beautiful stock!
