One Bite at a time!
Beretta

If you’re lucky enough to find a spot at the bar of this very crowded Mission gem, you’ll be silly to not try the food.
Of course a lot of people come to Beretta for the ambiance, the great cocktails and the cute bartenders.
But I was just in the neighborhood with the BF and decide to go there since we had some gift certificate, leftover gifts from Christmas.
A look at the menu and already my mouth is watering. I have to try the Chicken liver crostini alla Toscana. The livers was very blend, missing a lot of seasoning, it didn’t taste bad, just needed salt and pepper which I added myself. The crostini was a bit soggy, from probably sitting too long waiting to be delivered to our table. It happens! This dish well executed can be a killer! I have to say the portion was very generous.
Then we ordered the baby heirloom potatoes alla fonduta. Can go wrong with that, potatoes and melted cheese. Yeah my kinda thing!
Then we shared the Squid ink risotto. The risotto was good but the squid a bit over done for my taste. But overall a great dish.
We had to try one of their pizza and went for the prosciutto di parma, tomato and arugula. The pizza was good.
I really like Beretta, though the food lacked at time of attention, I think the overall experience was good and the things that bothered me I will just excuse it, the kitchen seemed very busy. The ingredients are good and fresh the menu inviting and original, hopefully on a better day they can make this menu also unforgivable.
Summary: If you are in the neighborhood, I will recommend for you to stop at Beretta. For a drink or for a bite to eat, they have plenty to chose from. Appetizer run around $6-8, Pizza $9-15, Salad $7-11, you can make it an affordable dinner if you share your plates. Bill for 2: $68.47 (including wine)
