Kasa

I was supposed to have dinner with a friend tonight and a turn of events had me landed at Kasa in the Castro.
First, I have to say, I am a big fan of any restaurant that will feed me for less than $12.
As I walk in the place, I found there a few of my friends almost done with their dinner. The place is a bit slower than usual, but I like the very relax and convivial atmosphere.
Kasa, calling themselves an Indian eatery, is a bit like the Indian version of a fast-food (in a good way of course). Simple tables, simple menu and low prices. What brought me there in the first place was the fact that they use fresh and good quality produces and meats.
I grabbed the Tahli package, including basmati rice, daal, roti, veggie salad, chutney, raita and a meat. I decided on chicken Tika masala and was asked if I wanted to do 1/2 chicken and 1/2 lamb. Well, let me think for half a second: Of course!
Everything is served on a big compartmented metal tray. I would have thought that it would have bother me at first but it didn’t at all. I think it’s actually pretty smart and a way to cut cost down. Great Idea!
Now, how about the food? The food is good! The daal was a bit soupy, but I had it before and it was much better. The rest was delicious, again we’re talking about a $10.50 meal here! And it can be easily shared by 2 people. I have a friend who’s more a fan of their kati roll. It’s the exact same thing but served in a roti (flat bread) and rolled almost like a burrito. Very good too!
Summary: I am very pleased with Kasa. It is a great place for a quick bite, a cheap meal or like me to find your friends on a Friday night before starting the evening.
I would highly recommend it. I want all the fast-food places in the world to be exactly like Kasa!
