After a long week at work and a lazy morning in bed, the BF and I finally decided to peek our nose out the door and go on a lunch date. It is such a beautiful day outside and I think every San Franciscan is walking our the street.
We decided to go for one of my favorite brunch spot in the city, Bar Tartine.
Chef Jason Fox creates, helped with the local and seasonal ingredient wonderful dish, simple but at the same time refined, his cuisine is flavorful and creative.
We started with a cup of the Spring pea soup, served cold with a hint of mint, lemon oil, piment d’espelette (that I love so much) and a bacon infused whipping cream. Yes you heard it! It was so good I had a foodgasm, the freshness of the soup with the lightness of the cream, what a dish. You have to run there right now just to try it!
We shared a plate of shoe string fries with aioli, unusually cut paper thin, they tasted like chips more like fries, not bad but not my favorite. I did tough like the fired herbs like sage and rosemary in the dish.
When some one puts a Foie Gras Panini on the menu, if you are like me, first I want to kiss the chef, then I order it immediately and now I wish my arteries could handle eating this everyday!!!!
This was so decadent and so good, the foie gras melting in my mouth as I bite into the nicely grilled brioche. Foodgasm again. I liked the side salad, light, it was a perfect combination.
The BF went for the Smoked salmon, avocado, on toasted brioche topped with poached eggs. Bar Tartine’s version of eggs benedict. The hollandaise sauce was amazingly light. Again a very good dish. Our belly filled with good food and a smile on our face, we couldn’t refuse our waitress when she offered an sampler of their sorbet (rhubarb, mango, pineapple), it was so creamy and so fresh. A perfect ending to a perfect meal!
Summary: Bar Tartine is a wonderful experience and a great example of California cuisine. It’s a great place for Brunch or dinner. Bill for 2: $77 (including few mimosas!)
